Burglary Suspect Found With Heroin, Syringe: Police

Annapolis Police have charged a man with stealing copper wire from a home under renovation; the suspect had heroin on him when arrested.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A man charged with stealing copper wire and tubing from a home under renovation in the city had heroin on him when he was arrested, Annapolis Police say. Earl Johnson, 34, of Annapolis was arrested Wednesday for the burglary that occurred in the unit block of Hicks Avenue between Jan. 12 and 13.

Police say Johnson had taken copper wiring and tubing that had been installed in a home being renovated. When arrested, officers say Johnson had suspected heroin and a syringe in his pockets.

Johnson was charged with second- and fourth-degree burglary and four other criminal charges related to the burglary. He was also charged with possession of illegal drugs and possession of equipment to administer illegal drugs.

Johnson is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $50,000 bond on the burglary charges and $5,000 bond on the drug charges, authorities say.
