ANNAPOLIS, MD — Chick and Ruth's Delly pretended to move to Ocean City on April Fool's Day. The popular restaurant later confirmed that it was just a joke. The eatery is actually staying at its downtown Annapolis location.

The prank started early Friday morning when the restaurant announced its fake move on Facebook.

"To our Annapolis family, these last 50+ years have been a delight, and it’s sad to see our time go," the eatery said. "As per today, Chick & Ruth’s will be moving from Annapolis, MD to Ocean City, MD."

Patch reached out to restaurant owner Spencer Jones to verify that the post was just a practical joke.

"Yes, just the team having a bit of fun on april fools day," Jones wrote to Patch.

Some customers thought the move was real, even though Chick and Ruth's has been an Annapolis staple for 57 years. Other commenters applauded the joke.
