This Community Won A National Designation
Annapolis was given a new national designation as a 2026 IMBA Trail Town for its commitment to celebrating trail systems.
ANNE ARUNDEL CO., MD — The state of its outdoor spaces just earned Annapolis a mountain biking recognition: the city is now a 2026 IMBA Trail Town.
The designation, issued by the International Mountain Bicycling Association, is given to communities across the U.S. that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to trail systems and ensure they remain accessible to the public.
Annapolis was one of two Maryland communities recognized by the nonprofit group. Also named in the list of 28 towns was Montgomery County's Germantown region.

"Trails are an important part of what makes Annapolis and Anne Arundel County such great places to live and visit," said Annapolis Mayor Jared Littmann.
"This recognition highlights how outdoor recreation strengthens the community and contributes to our local economy and quality of life."
The Annapolis Recreation and Parks agency manages the Waterworks Park, a multi-use outdoor space located at 260 Defense Highway that includes over 10 miles of trails.
The 40-acre park is also close to Crownsville's Bacon Ridge Natural Area, which offers more than 20 miles of trails built in partnership with the local Mid-Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts group.
IMBA executive director David Wiens described the recognition as "more than a badge of honor. It's national recognition that a community values trails and the people who ride them."
