Annapolis Roadway Closes Temporarily, Downtown Garage Rebuild Progresses

A downtown Annapolis roadway is temporarily closed. This will let crews set up a crane to continue building the city's new parking garage.

The City of Annapolis said Conduit Street will be closed between Main Street and Duke of Gloucester Street twice this week. This will let crews set up a tower crane to build the new Noah Hillman Garage. The previous structure is pictured above.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Conduit Street will be closed between Main Street and Duke of Gloucester Street twice this week. The closure in downtown Annapolis will be in effect Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

This road closure will let construction crews set up a tower crane to build the new Noah Hillman Garage.

The city closed the old parking garage this May. Workers then demolished the previous structure to make room for the new garage.

The future garage will have about 165 more parking spaces on the same property at 150 Gorman Street. The city expects to finish the rebuild around June 2023.

"This temporary closure will help get us another step closer to the new garage," the city said in an announcement.

The closure will restrict parking as well as commercial loading and unloading. There will be a temporary loading zone between Conduit Street and the bump out-out crosswalk on Main Street from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.

There is a sign at the bottom of Main Street to notify drivers of the closure.

"We appreciate your patience," the city said on Facebook. "The new garage is going to be an amazing asset to downtown. We've got just 11 months to go!"
