Congratulations on 20 years of Service

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Rho Eta Zeta Chapter celebrates significant milestone in Anne Arundel County.

On April 10, 1999, members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, Donna Y. Alston, Lesa R. Jeanpierre, Lawren Fowlkes, Paulette McCoy, Monica Parrish, Roxanne Parsons and Cheryl Raigns, and Roslyn Hannibal-Booker saw that there was a need to provide assistance and awareness to various public issues to the citizens of Anne Arundel County. Since it's chartering, Rho Eta Zeta has successfully executed that mission.

Over the last twenty years, Rho Eta Zeta Chapter has built and maintained partnerships with a variety of community organizations such as Come Just As You Are (CJAYA) Bible Fellowship Church, opening and running a Stork’s Nest with the Baltimore Washington Medical Center; where expectant mothers can take classes about how to have a healthy pregnancy, better birth practices and how to raise healthy children while being a healthier parent. We also work with Happy Helpers for the Homeless, the Freetown Community Association, Freetown Boys & Girl’s Club, KrisLeigh Nursing Home, and VanBokklen Elementary School as a part of the Sorority’s Adopt-A-School Program.

Additionally, we have a mentoring and leadership program, the Zeta Youth Auxiliaries, that focuses on girls ages 4-18. We teach them public speaking skills, work on good study habits, expose them to STEM opportunities; as well as promote self-esteem and self-care. In the last 5 years, over $10,000 in scholarships have been raised as a result of programming efforts, these funds have been awarded to female High School Seniors in the county. We will commemorate our 20 year celebration on April 6, 2019 at Michael’s Eighth Avenue with an anniversary gala.

We are honored and humbled to reach this amazing milestone and will continue this journey of bettering the lives of those in the county for years to come.
