Creating new memories with Admiral Heights block party
Admiral Heights residents had a pizza truck at their block party for the first time. They also had cornhole game, face painting, etc.
Three fire pits, games, pizza, s’mores and hot apple cider kept Admiral Heights residents, their friends and family members warm at the Admiral Heights block party Nov. 13.
Dressed in winter jackets, hats and coats, they braved the wind and weather ranging from the 50s to the 40s as they competed in a cornhole tournament, sack races and other fun events. Some of the little ones crawled through colorful plastic tunnels, had their faces painted, walked down to the water, blew soap bubbles, and snacked on s’mores, candy, cookies, juice boxes and pizza.
Longtime residents couldn’t help but compare this block party to the ones held in August where the temperatures were in the sweltering 90s. They remembered huddling under tents because of the heat and huddling under tents because of the rain. Of course, they remembered 2020 when there was no block party at all because of COVID.

The one thing they didn’t remember was a pizza truck. That was something new. This block party provided an opportunity to meet with longtime residents and those who’ve only been in the community for a couple of months. It provides an opportunity to create new memories and to foster a greater sense of community.
