Edgewater Woman Dies, 2 Bikers Critically Injured in Pasadena Crash: Police

An Edgewater woman died Saturday after she was thrown from a motorcycle; two motorcyclists were critically injured in the wreck, police say.

PASADENA, MD — An Edgewater woman died when she was thrown from a motorcycle and then struck by another motorcycle in a Pasadena accident that critically injured the two drivers of the bikes, police say. The deadly pileup happened about 10 p.m. Saturday on southbound Edwin Raynor Boulevard at Deering Road in Pasadena.

Anne Arundel County Police say the crash occurred when a 2007 Mazda driven by Concetta Anne Cantalupo, 54, of Deering Road in Pasadena, slowed to turn left onto Deering Road. The Mazda was hit from behind by a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Brian Robert Dies, 50, of Gambier Harbour in Pasadena. Dies' passenger — Teresa Lynn Rauh, 47, of Fairlea Drive in Edgewater — was thrown from the motorcycle.

Police say a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Greg Neil Farrow, 54, of Haverhill Road in Baltimore, then struck the other motorcycle and Rauh. Fire department personnel declared Rauh dead at the scene, and her body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The drivers of both motorcycles were taken to Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with critical injuries, authorities said. Cantalupo was not injured in the crash.

Investigators say the preliminary cause of the crash was the failure of Dies to slow and yield to the turning Mazda. There is also evidence that alcohol use contributed to the crash. Both motorcycle drivers and Rauh wore helmets.
