Eight Environmental Grants Awarded In Anne Arundel County
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has awarded $30.9 million in grants to communities, including eight in Anne Arundel County.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — The Maryland Department of Natural Resources will award $30.9 million in grants to communities earmarked to carry out projects that will restore local waterways, increase climate resilience and develop the next generation of environmental stewards.
“We are pleased to support these innovative projects that will help us achieve our environmental goals,” Maryland Department of Natural Resources Secretary Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio said in a statement. “In addition to improving the resilience of our communities, these projects will protect our local streams, rivers, and the Chesapeake Bay in measurable ways.”
Anne Arundel County was awarded grant money for eight projects that affect the South River, Severn River, Patuxent River middle, Patuxent River upper, West Chesapeake Bay and Little Patuxent River. Guiding these projects are Arundel Rivers, Chesapeake Rivers, Anne Arundel County and the Maryland Forestry Foundation.

Baltimore County also was awarded grant money for eight projects impacting the Loch Raven Reservoir, Baltimore Harbor, Jones Falls, Patapsco River, Deer Creek and Gwynns Falls. A map of projects and a complete list of awardees for fiscal year 2020 is available online.
Grants are funded through the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund, the Coastal Resiliency Program, the Environmental Protection Agency’s Chesapeake Bay Program and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
