Family to Use $10K Lottery Win on Toys for Tots Drive

A Glen Burnie family who won a $10,000 prize from the Maryland Lottery will take a cruise, and increase their donation to Toys for Tots.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A quick-acting Glen Burnie man and his excited family rushed into Maryland Lottery headquarters late Thursday to claim a $10,000 top prize on a 10x Cash scratch-off purchased only hours earlier.

Dubbing themselves “The Lucky Laughters,” the happy family celebrated in the Lottery Winner’s Circle with photos. They claimed the 40th top prize in the popular $10 game, which still has 78 $10,000 prizes remaining.

The Lottery magic happened when the local hotel outlets manager stopped at BP Food Mart in Glen Burnie to buy gas and scratch-offs before driving home. As the gas flowed into his tank, the 32-year-old scratched off the ticket and revealed 10 of 10 matching numbers.

Startled by his luck, the Anne Arundel County resident stowed his ticket and quickly headed home where he revealed the prize amounts beside each matching number. He won $10,000.

The elated winner credits his luck to his father, who has had wins with the Pick 4 game and often shares Lottery prizes with family members. He says he plans to continue that tradition and share his winnings with a local Toys for Tots drive.

“We’re already very involved with the holiday campaign, but this will allow us to be extra generous and contribute a bunch of bikes this year,” said the winner.

“The Lucky Laughters” also planned to escape the winter cold with a Caribbean cruise. The rest of the win will help them cover the cost.
