ANNAPOLIS, MD — Schools in Anne Arundel County welcomed students back for the 2021-2022 school year Wednesday.
This will be the first time that many students have entered a school building since the coronavirus pandemic struck in March 2020. Here is when each grade heads back:
- Wednesday, Sept. 8 (Grades 1–5, 6 and 9 only.)
- Thursday, Sept. 9 (Everybody else in grades 1 through 12.)
- Wednesday, Sept. 8 through Friday, Sept. 17 (Staggered openings for ECI, Pre-K and Kindergarten. See the chart at this link.)
Face coverings will be required for all students and staff, regardless of their vaccination status. AACPS announced this rule about three weeks before the Maryland State Board of Education mandated masks in all schools.
