Flash Flood Watch Issued For Maryland: Father's Day Forecast
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for much of Maryland on June 20. Plus the Father's Day weekend forecast.
MARYLAND — A flood watch is in effect Saturday in parts of Maryland. Up to 2 inches of rain is possible in a relatively short time, according to the National Weather Service. This may cause flash flooding for small streams, creeks, and urban areas, the weather service said.
Numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected through early Saturday evening. Localized rainfall amounts around 1 to 2 inches are possible.
The flash flood watch applies to the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., metropolitan areas until 9 p.m. People who live in flood-prone areas should be prepared.

Areas included in the watch are: Baltimore, Prince George's, Anne Arundel, Montgomery, and Howard counties, plus the cities of Baltimore, Bowie,College Park, Greenbelt, Laurel, Glen Burnie, Annapolis, Severn, Severna Park, Arnold, Odenton, Germantown, Damascus, Bethesda, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, Columbia, and Ellicott City.
Thunderstorms capable of producing strong winds are possible over the tidal waters Saturday afternoon and evening.

Here's the weekend forecast for the Baltimore-Washington area:
Saturday: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 2 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. Southeast wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Saturday Night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m., then isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Southeast wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Sunday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. Southeast wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Sunday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11pm, then a slight chance of showers between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. South wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Monday: A chance of showers between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., then showers and thunderstorms likely after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
