Former Delegate Candidate Saves Choking Boy on Beach

Former District 33 GOP delegate candidate Jamie Falcon is an Ocean City Beach Patrol sergeant. He saved a child on a Virginia beach Friday.

He may have lost an election in June, but former District 33 delegate candidate Jamie Falcon won a more important battle Friday: to save a baby who was choking.

The Anne Arundel County Republican is a former Navy rescue swimmer and an Ocean City Beach Patrol sergeant. He was a judge at the Nautica United States Lifesaving Association National Lifeguard Championships in Virginia Beach when the real-life emergency occurred.

Falcon took action, reports the Capital-Gazette. He administered chest compressions and back blows to try to dislodge the food until the boy resumed breathing.

“The longer it took, the harder I hit,” Falcon told the newspaper. “It’s a strange feeling to hit a 14-month-old that hard. That night, I didn’t sleep.”

Falcon then carried the boy to an ambulance. He learned the baby was released from the hospital later that night.

“I’ve been on a lot of emergencies, but this one was a tougher scene than usual,” Falcon told the newspaper.
