Free Parking for Downtown Annapolis Shoppers, Visitors

The city's Circulator trolley will also be free through Jan. 1. Officials warn drivers not to abuse the free time

Limited free parking will be offered at parking meters in downtown Annapolis for holiday shoppers, according to city officials.

The city will offer two hours of free parking in downtown Annapolis starting Friday, Nov. 28, through Jan. 1, says a news release.

Adding to the good transit news: the Circulator trolley will remain free through Jan. 1. The Circulator will quickly move holiday visitors from the city’s four parking garages (Hillman, Gott’s, Knighton and Park Place) around the Central Business District, allowing shoppers to enjoy the stores, maritime attractions and more.

The two hours of free parking will be available at all two-hour metered parking spots on Main Street, Francis Street, West Street, Maryland Avenue, Prince George Street, City Dock and Market Space.

The two hours of free parking is available only for the two-hour meters. The 30-minute meters at the base of Main Street will only offer 30 minutes of free parking.

Whether the meter has a maximum time of 30 minutes or two hours, drivers must move their vehicle after the allotted time. Users are not allowed to leave their car in one spot all day. The posted time on the meter will be enforced.
