Gingerbread Jog and Lights Through the Heights

Dinosaurs! Reindeer! Dogs! Snowmen! Santa Claus!

The more than 30 Admiral Heights residents who walked and ran in the second annual Gingerbread Jog and Lights Through the Heights saw all these characters and more.

The letters in a sign that said “Joy” blinked on and off at the top of a hill in Admiral Heights, reminding everyone of the happiness of the season. Some strings of Christmas lights were replaced with what looked like green, red and blue fairy lights on trees and houses. Some families welcomed their guests with cries of “Merry Christmas!” Others had fire pits and refreshments such as hot chocolate.

Twenty-six homes entered a decoration competition. Congratulations to the winners of this year’s competition: the Wilkins on Halsey Road, the Uehlingers on Nimitz Drive, and Wattles on Williams Drive. Congratulations also go to those tied for runners up: the Smiths on Halsey Road and Francos on Sumner Road.

In addition to the competitors most homes in the neighborhood showed their holiday spirit with lights (candles, string lights, spotlights, laser lights, etc.), inflatable Christmas decorations, or both.

Also included in the Gingerbread Jog was a charitable donation. Proceeds from the sale of commemorative T-shirts led to a $120 donation to the West Annapolis Pantry.
