Glen Burnie Man Sentenced For Attempted Murder Of Brother

A Glen Burnie man was sentenced to 28 years in prison for cutting his brother in the neck with a knife.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A Glen Burnie man was sentenced to 28 years in prison for the September 2016 attempted murder of his brother, Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Wes Adams announced Wednesday.

James William Tayman, 49, allegedly stabbed his brother in a Juneberry Way home in Glen Burnie September 1, 2016, Adams said. When officers arrived to the home that day, they found the victim with an apparent knife wound on the left side of the neck. The victim lost a significant amount of blood and required immediate medical attention, Adams told Patch.

Investigation revealed the victim was visiting family when he and his brother, James Tayman, got in a verbal argument. James Tayman then got a knife from the kitchen, held it to his brother's throat and cut him, Adams said.

James Tayman was found guilty of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Dangerous Weapon: Wear And Carry With Intent To Injure by an Anne Arundel County Circuit Court jury on May 10, 2017.

Judge William C. Mulford, II presided over the case. Assistant State's Attorney James Tuomey prosecuted the case on behalf of the citizens of Anne Arundel County.
