GreenScape: four-day project
Admiral Heights residents volunteered to beautify their community during four GreenScape events.
In Admiral Heights this year’s GreenScape spanned four days. On the first day, April 22, more than 10 Admiral Heights residents cleared the Sampson-Porter Circle and got it ready for planting. They spent more than three hours digging, raking, sweeping and bagging. The result: 18 paper refuse bags of 30 gallon capacity were filled until they could barely be budged. Then, they were lined along the street for yard waste pick up.
On April 23 more than 15 Admiral Heights residents raked, bagged, planted, pulled vines and roots, and felt a sense of accomplishment in the vastly improved Dewey Dock. When they were done, 22 lawn and refuse bags, four tall, blue, Annapolis recycling containers, eight tied up bundles of sticks, one stump, and some firewood lined the curb.
A dozen Admiral Heights residents quickly planted, mulched and watered the Sampson-Porter Circle under the guidance of Nina Fisher on April 29. What was originally slated to be a three hour job was finished in less than two hours. More than 60 plants were put into the ground.

Under the guidance of Fisher, about 10 Admiral Heights residents added more plants to the Sampson-Porter Circle on May 7.
Thanks go to Fisher, Grant Garcia, chairman of the Admiral Heights Improvement Association’s Grounds Committee, and all the residents who pitched in to make the community a more beautiful place.
