Hamilton has taken Broadway by storm, and was recently nominated for a staggering 16 Tony Awards, including Best Musical -- which it surely is the clear frontrunner to win at this point. It also won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The musical, which was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, is based on the biography of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.

"Hamilton is the story of Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary," the statement reads. "Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B, and Broadway, Hamilton is the story of America then, as told by America now."

In March, Lin-Manuel Miranda was rapping with President Barack Obama in the Rose Garden at the White House. Obama had watched Hamilton last July and invited him over to perform privately in the State Dining Room.
