Healthy Anne Arundel Holds #HealthySelfie Contest

From Healthy Anne Arundel: Anne Arundel County is celebrating Healthy Anne Arundel Month with a social media contest in April to inspire citizens to make healthy improvements in their physical and mental well-being. Healthy Anne Arundel Month is an initiative of the Healthy Anne Arundel Coalition, which assesses and helps to enhance local health programs and partnerships.

The contest is open to anyone age 18 or older who lives, works or attends school in Anne Arundel County. Using the hashtag #HealthySelfie, participants are encouraged to take a selfie of any healthy activity and post it on Facebook. The entries with the most creative and popular photos will be eligible to win $50 Visa pre-paid cards or a grand prize, Fitbit Charge 2™.

“This promotion is a fun way to get everyone active,” said County Executive Steve Schuh. “Studies show that small changes in our daily routines can lead to positive changes in our overall health. Snap a selfie and join the celebration!”

Sponsoring its Second Annual #HealthySelfie Contest, the Healthy Anne Arundel Coalition has partnered with local health care providers, Anne Arundel Medical Center, University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center and MedStar Health. Entries will be judged by a panel of Coalition representatives. Any entries with the #HealthySelfie hashtag posted from April 1 through April 30 will be considered.
