Heroin, Crack Cocaine Found During Stop for Seatbelt Violation

A Baltimore man is charged with drug trafficking after police say they found heroin, crack and marijuana in his car.

BROOKLYN, MD — A man reportedly driving a car loaded with heroin and crack cocaine was stopped by police Wednesday for not having his seatbelt fastened.

And the criminal charges piled up from there.

Anne Arundel County Police stopped a car about 9 a.m. on Church Street at Sixth Street in Brooklyn because the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. When detectives talked with the driver, they reportedly smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

A search of the driver and vehicle resulted in police seizing 48 baggies of heroin, 19 vials of crack cocaine, an additional 2 grams of heroin and $672 in cash.

The driver was arrested and the 2000 Honda Accord was seized.

Suspect Jerome Reese Ruffin, 30, of 2801 E. Northern Pkwy. in Baltimore, is charged with:

  • Possession w/intent to distribute heroin
  • Possession w/intent to distribute crack cocaine
  • Possession of CDS heroin
  • Possession of CDS crack cocaine
  • Possession of CDS marijuana
  • Driving on suspended license
