Heroin Dealer Arrested for Sales Near Crofton, Annapolis Schools: Police

An Annapolis man is charged with drug trafficking near elementary schools in Annapolis and Crofton; neighbors had complained to police.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — An Annapolis man is charged with dealing heroin in both Crofton and Annapolis, in both cases close to elementary schools, authorities said.

Suspect Gene Craig Simms, 28, was the target of an Anne Arundel County Police raid at two locations: 7 Dominoe Road in Annapolis and 1652 Fendall Court in Crofton.

Police searched both locations Monday using warrants that were obtained after numerous complaints by area residents of drug activity at both addresses.

The Crofton location is only a few blocks from Crofton Meadows Elementary School, while the Annapolis site is almost adjacent to the grounds of Walter S. Mills-Parole Elementary School.

As a combined result of the search warrants, police seized about 8.85 grams of heroin with a street value of $1,062, drug paraphernalia, a 2000 Mercedes S500 and $1,223 in cash.

Simms, of 7 Dominoe Road in Annapolis, was charged with possession of CDS with intent to distribute: not marijuana; possession of CDS with intent to distribute: school bus/property; and possession of CDS: not marijuana.
