Update: County Official Put on Unpaid Leave After Burglary Arrest
He faces multiple charges for break-in at neighbor's residence, say Annapolis police.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The CEO of the Anne Arundel County Economic Development Corporation has been placed on unpaid leave after being arrested last week for breaking into his neighbor's home, County Executive Steve Schuh announced Tuesday.
Robert Hannon, 70, is charged with first-, third- and fourth-degree burglary and theft, according to the Annapolis police. He was released from jail after posting a $100,000 bond.
A city resident called the police Thursday night after she discovered that Hannon, her neighbor, had broken into her home, according to a police report.

Officers responded at 9:54 p.m. to the residence in the 300 block of Severn Avenue, where the woman told them that a motion-activated camera had captured Hannon unlawfully inside her home, according to a city police report.
The police said that Hannon was captured on camera rifling through the woman's lingerie drawer, WJLA-TV Channel 7 reported.

In a statement Tuesday, Schuh said that his office became aware of the charges against Hannon on Friday. He also announced that Mark Hartzell, chief administrative officer of the Economic Development Corp., will take over as acting CEO until further notice.
"These serious charges against Mr. Hannon are surprising and constitute a need for responsible leadership pending the resolution of his case," Schuh said.
