Impact 100 Announces Finalists for $57,000 Grant

Winner To Be Chosen October 21 at Annual Meeting of Members

Annapolis, MD [September 24, 2018] – Impact 100 Greater Chesapeake, Inc. (Impact 100) will award a $57,000 grant to an Anne Arundel County non-profit for a project that is related to one of five key focus areas – Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, Family, and Health & Wellness. The finalists for this grant are:

  • Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF): Making and Impact through Oyster Restoration - CBF is working to help us have cleaner water for our community -- eliminating toxic contaminants as well as producing healthy oxygen levels that support living resources in all parts of the Bay. The Impact 100 grant would allow CBF to replace two engines for the Patricia Campbell vessel, CBF’s only boat for creating a vertical environment for oysters to prevent stratification.
  • Maryland Therapeutic Riding (MTR): Daily and Emergency Farm Vehicles – MTR improves the quality of lives of children, adults, active duty military and veterans with special needs by connecting humans and horses in a healing environment. They provide life-changing experiences that empower the mind, strengthen the body and lift the spirit. The Impact 100 grant would provide three new vehicles to improve farm operations.
  • Seeds 4 Success: Academic and Career Exploration Club (ACEC) – ACEC allows students to gain critical access to academic assistance, relationship development with a mentor, opportunities to explore different post-high school options and support to build a career plan that will carry them beyond their current economic situation. The Impact 100 grant would support the expansion of ACEC in order to serve more low-income high school students in Annapolis with additional transportation to and from programming, greater access to college visits, and access to other training opportunities demonstrated to lift individuals out of poverty.
  • YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County: Education and Wellness Center – In following their mission to help women thrive, the YWCA is doubling the size of their safe house in Anne Arundel County. The Impact 100 grant would help with the construction and renovation of their Education and Wellness Center that would be an integral part in enabling women to become independent and sustain a successful life after leaving their program.

The Impact 100 Greater Chesapeake annual member meeting will be held October 21, 2018 at Lightbox Studio. Finalists will have an opportunity to make a brief presentation about their project proposals to Impact’s membership. Following the presentations, Impact 100 members will vote for one project to receive the $57,000 grant, which will be announced before the conclusion of the meeting.
