Irate Rockville Man Carjacks Vehicle from Annapolis Hotel: Police

A Rockville man is charged with carjacking after he reportedly stole a car as a couple pulled up at the Annapolis Marriott Courtyard hotel.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A reportedly irate Rockville man jumped into a parked car at an Annapolis hotel Monday, but was soon found kicking another parked, empty vehicle, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

Kasra Hojaji, 43, of the 10500 block of Rockville Pike in Rockville, was charged with carjacking and unauthorized taking of a motor vehicle.

Police say the carjacking happened just before midnight at the Marriott Courtyard in the 2500 block of Riva Road. The driver of a white Dodge Charger pulled up to the hotel and went inside, leaving a woman passenger in the vehicle and the engine running.

Authorities say Hojaji got into the driver's seat of the car while the passenger was still inside, and he reportedly began yelling at the woman. The passenger in turn got out of the vehicle in fear for her safety, and Hojaji then drove the stolen car away.

Several officers searched the area and soon spotted Hojaji, who matched the carjacker's description; he was reportedly kicking a parked, unoccupied vehicle at the Bank of America in the 2200 block of Forest Drive. Police took the suspect into custody without incident. The stolen vehicle was found at a nearby gas station and returned to its owner.
