Knifepoint Robbery in Annapolis Bar Bathroom Leads to Arrest

A man told Annapolis Police he was robbed when he refused to buy cocaine in the bathroom of Acme Bar and Grill.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A man who refused to buy drugs in an Annapolis bar’s restroom was then robbed at knifepoint, according to Annapolis Police.

The holdup victim reported that he was approached by John Jennings, 32, of Annapolis, just before 2 a.m. Sunday in the men’s bathroom at Acme Bar and Grill, 163 Main St. Jennings allegedly offered to sell the man cocaine, and when he refused to buy, Jennings demanded $40 before the man could leave the bathroom.

According to the police report, Jennings turned off the restroom lights, and when he turned them back on he held a knife pointed at the victim. The man handed over money and Jennings let him leave the bathroom.

When police detained Jennings, officers reportedly found cocaine, a knife, and money on his person.

Jennings was arrested and charged with armed robbery, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and possession of illegal drugs. He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $50,000 bond.
