Last Day of School Moves Up for Two Elementaries

From the AACPS Communications Office:

A state official will allow Benfield and West Annapolis elementary schools to end the school year one day early for students in order to prepare for summer construction projects.

The one-day waiver means that the last day of school for students at those two schools in Severna Park and Annapolis will end on Wednesday, June 15.

The 2015-2016 school year for students at all other Anne Arundel County Public Schools is scheduled to end on Thursday, June 16, 2015.

Teachers and staff at the two schools that are closing early will use the additional day for packing up materials in order to facilitate construction or moves. Those two schools will also open the 2016-2017 school year on August 23, 2016, one day later than other schools.

Coming important dates:

• The last day of school for graduating seniors is Thursday, May 26.
• Semester exams at the comprehensive high schools will be administered from Monday, June 13, 2016, through Thursday, June 16, 2016. All schools will dismiss two hours early on these days.
• Semester exams at the two Centers for Applied Technology will be administered on Thursday, June 9, 2016, and Friday, June 10, 2016.
• The last day of class for half-day prekindergarten and ECI students is Friday, June 10, 2016.
• The last day of work for 191-day Unit I and Unit IV employees (classroom teachers, teaching assistants, technology support technicians, etc.) is Friday, June 17, 2016.
