, under the current rates, the average residential bill for city residents is about $86.19 per quarter or $344.76 per year. Under the new rates rates, the average bill is estimated to be about $165.68 per quarter or $662.72 per year.

These figures are based on a recent rate study, which shows that the average single-family home in Annapolis uses 167 gallons per day.

Sewer rates had not been increased in more than a decade, according to city officials.

Mayor Josh Cohen will host two public forums on these new rates, giving residents a chance to speak with him and officials from public works and other city departments.

The first forum takes place Thursday night at at 7 p.m., and the second will be held July 20 at 7 p.m. at Mount Olive Community Life Center.
