The Light House Opens Its New Food Pantry In Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, MD—During its Day of Thanks special event Nov. 25, The Light House Homeless Prevention Support Center held a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the recent opening of its new client choice pantry, then served hot meals to those in need and distributed Thanksgiving baskets.

Local officials and other volunteers helped prepare and serve meals and pass out Thanksgiving baskets to more than 250 individuals and families. Data for Anne Arundel County reveals that more than 75,000 of its residents don't have access to fresh, healthy and affordable food. But with the new client choice pantry, The Light House has been able to provide hot meals and bagged lunches. Since opening the pantry, The Light House now distributes an average of 3,000 pounds of food every week and intends to provide 2.5 times more food than has been distributed in the past.
