The fatal scene at the Capital Gazette was the second mass shooting in Maryland in less than nine months.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A gunman killed five people in Annapolis in the Capital Gazette building Wednesday afternoon, an attack that came after a dispute with the newspaper and social media threats. After Thursday's shooting in Annapolis, more than 170 people were evacuated from the newspaper building on Bestgate Road and escorted to the Annapolis Mall, Anne Arundel County Police spokesman Lt. Ryan Frashure said. The shooter has not been identified.
