MD Chicken Wing Festival Is Around The Corner

ANNE ARUNDEL CO., MD — The 12th annual Maryland Chicken Wing Festival is coming to town this weekend, bringing not only chicken but a mix of activities that include a pepper eating contest.

Festivities will be held at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds in Crownsville, at 1450 Generals Highway.

Guests can participate in the event from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

General admission tickets start at $18.77 for Saturday and $13.12 for Sunday. Any children under the age of 12 are admitted free of charge, but still require registration for a child's ticket.

The family-friendly festival will host a variety of activities, including:

• Axe-throwing and archery
• Pepper eating contest
• Wing eating contest
• Best wing sauce competition
• "Best of Show" judging

Musical performances will also feature artists Daphne Eckman and the Naptown Brass Band, among others.

More than a dozen vendors will be making up what organizers are calling "wing alley." They include vendors such as:

• Somethang Delicious
• Old Fireman's BBQ
• Emmanuella's Cuisine
• Aunt Titty's
• D'Liche Southern Cuisine
