Monarch Academy Closed Monday Due to Fire At Neighboring Business
An auto repair shop experienced a transformer explosion, leading to the electricity being cut off to the area. Monarch Academy is now closed
ANNAPOLIS, MD — Monarch Academy will be closed for the rest of the day Monday due to a neighboring business catching on fire. BGE electrical power to the building was cut off at 7:50 a.m. for safety purposes. An additional 1,000 customers also were without power. According to the Annapolis Office of Emergency Management, an auto repair shop experienced a transformer explosion in the 200 block of West Street.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area. West Street is closed at Gibralter and Gilbralter also is closed this morning. The Office of Emergency Management will continue to monitor the situation.
