Must-Know School Dates on Anne Arundel County Calendar 2016-17 (Updated)

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Here’s a list of the key dates for the 2016-17 school year in Anne Arundel County. And keep in mind that the last day of school could change based on weather cancelations during the school year.

2016-17 School Calendar

• Aug. 22: Schools open grades 1-5 and 6 and 9 only
• Aug. 23: Schools open for students in grades 1 through 12
• Aug. 24-26: Staggered entrance for Kindergarten and Full-day Prekindergarten
• Aug. 25: First day of school for ECI students
• Aug. 25, 26, 29: Staggered entrance for Half-Day Pre-Kindergarten
• Aug. 29: First day for all Kindergarten and Full-day Prekindergarten
• Aug. 30: First day for all Half-day PreKindergarten
• Sept. 5: Labor Day – Schools and Central Offices closed
• Sept. 12: Eid al-Adha - Schools and Central Offices open
• Sept. 21: Professional Development - Two-hour early dismissal for all students. Schools closed for p.m. Pre-kindergarten and E.C.I. students
• Oct. 3: Rosh Hashanah – Schools and Central Offices open - no extracurricular activities to be held after sundown the preceding evening
• Oct. 12: Yom Kippur –Schools and Central Offices closed - no extracurricular activities to be held after sundown the preceding evening
• Oct. 20: Schools closed for students. Parent/Teacher conferences for elementary, middle and high schools.

• Oct. 21: Schools closed for students. MSEA Convention. Professional Development Day.
• Oct. 28/31: End of first marking period - Two-hour early dismissal for all students; teacher workdays. Schools closed for p.m. Pre-kindergarten and E.C.I. students
• Nov. 8: Election Day - Schools and Central Offices closed
• Nov.23-25: Thanksgiving Holiday - All Schools and Central Offices closed
• Dec. 2: Schools closed for students.Parent/Teacher conferences for elementary, middle and high schools.
• Dec. 7: Professional Development - Two-hour early dismissal for all students. Schools closed for p.m. Pre-kindergarten and E.C.I. students
• Dec. 22: Two-hour early dismissal for all students, teacher workday. Schools closed for p.m. Pre-kindergarten and E.C.I. students
• Dec. 23-Jan. 2: Christmas/Winter Break. All schools and central offices closed December 23 through January 2 for students, teachers, and school-based Unit IV employees.

• April 10-17: Easter/Spring Break - All schools closed for students, teachers and school-based Unit-IV employees. All school offices and central offices closed April 13, 14 & 17
• May 25, 26: Spring Conferences for Prekindergarten, Kindergarten & ECI. Schools closed for those students
• May 29: Memorial Day—All Schools and Central Offices closed
• June 13-14: End of fourth marking period, textbook collection. Two-hour early dismissal for all students; teacher workdays. Schools closed for p.m. Prekindergarten & ECI students.
• June 14: Last day for students
