No Bail for Man Charged With Stabbing Woman to Death Near Mall

Christopher Scheibe, charged with stabbing a woman to death and leaving her body behind a Parole gym, will remain in jail until trial.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A man charged with stabbing a woman to death and leaving her body behind a Parole business district near Annapolis Mall will remain in jail without bond until his trial, a judge ruled Monday.

Christopher Allen Scheibe, 28, with no fixed address was taken into custody June 2 by Anne Arundel County and Maryland State Police. Authorities arrested him in the 3000 block of Warwick Road of East New Market on the Eastern Shore.

Scheibe reportedly confessed to homicide detectives that he killed Holly Carol Smith, 24, who used to live in the 900 block of Holgate Drive in Essex, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department. Scheibe faces Anne Arundel County charges of first- and second-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault.

Smith’s remains were found in the wooded area in the 2000 block of Industrial Drive behind Premier Fitness gym by a person walking in the area.

The Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on the victim and determined that Smith suffered puncture/stab wounds to her upper body and the death was a homicide.
