Police Arrest Man Suspected Of Assaulting Woman While She Slept

ODENTON, MD — Anne Arundel County officers have arrested a Severn man in the sexual assault of an Odenton woman. Officers responded to a call about a burglary and sexual assault in the early morning hours of Aug. 27. A woman reported that she woke up to a male suspect assaulting her on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at approximately 5:41 a.m. She was able to scream, which prompted the suspect to flee the home through an open window. The home is located in the 2400 block of Apple Blossom Lane.

Officers and a K-9 canvassed the area searching for the suspect but could not find him. Several detectives questioned neighbors and interviewed witnesses. Throughout the week, detectives scoured evidence and arrested 24-year-old Zaon Emmanuel Cox of the 1800 block of Graybird Court in Severn. He has been charged with first degree rape, second degree rape, first degree burglary, first degree/home invasion burglary and third degree burglary.
