The motorcycle struck an SUV that pulled out from a driveway onto westbound Mountain Road. Police say the 2009 Honda CR-V SUV was driven by Anna G. Upperman, 78, of the 200 block of Magothy Beach Road in Pasadena.

Purdham, who was wearing a helmet, was taken by Fire Department personnel to Shock Trauma with critical, life-threatening injuries, where he later died.

Upperman was treated for minor injuries at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

The primary cause of the crash appears to be Purdham’s excessive speed and prohibited driving in a center turn lane, police said.

Alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor. Any charges are pending review by the State’s Attorney's office.
