Pedestrian Identified Who Died on Christmas Eve in Glen Burnie
Police have identified a Glen Burnie man who died on Christmas Eve when he was hit by an SUV while crossing Ritchie Highway.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Authorities on Tuesday released the name of a Glen Burnie pedestrian who died on Christmas Eve when he was struck by an SUV while he was walking across Ritchie Highway. The man killed is Eric Richard Barlow, 52, of the 500 block of Crain Highway in Glen Burnie, according to Anne Arundel County Police.
The fatal accident happened about 7:15 p.m. Saturday in front of 7233 Ritchie Highway-North in Glen Burnie. Investigators say a 2009 Suzuki Grand Vitara driven by Robert Linwood Fowler, 56, of Baltimore, was northbound on Ritchie Highway just north of Sixth Avenue as Barlow walked west across Ritchie Highway into the path of the Suzuki and was hit.
Police say Barlow was declared dead by paramedics on the scene and his body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore for autopsy.

The primary cause of the crash is pedestrian error. Neither speed nor alcohol use is believed to be a contributing factor. Any charges are pending review by the state’s attorney.
