Pedestrian Killed: Victim, Driver Identified by Annapolis Police

The victim, of Edgewater, was landscaping near the road when a pickup truck reportedly jumped the curb, according to police.

ANNAPOLIS, MD -- The pedestrian killed in a wreck on Monday has been identified by Annapolis Police.

Mario Salmeron, 39, of Edgewater was killed Monday morning after a pickup truck that jumped a curb on Rowe Boulevard, striking the man as he was working for a landscaping company.

The driver of the 2006 Toyota Tundra involved in the wreck has been identified as Dakota Young, 22 of Pasadena.

The fatal accident happened about 8:30 a.m. Monday near the Maryland Fire-Rescue Services Memorial at Bladen and Calvert streets.

According to police, the pickup truck was traveling southeast on Rowe Boulevard approaching the intersection with Calvert Street when the driver left the roadway to the right. Annapolis Police say the truck drove over the curb, and struck Salmeron.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing. According to police, the preliminary cause of the crash is the driver’s failure to remain on the roadway. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
