Police Arrest Second Suspect in Officer's Shooting
The injured officer's condition has improved, say Anne Arundel County Police. It is the first line-of-duty shooting in nearly seven years.

Anne Arundel County Police say they have arrested a second suspect in Friday’s shooting of an officer at an Annapolis 7-Eleven store.
The officer, Corporal Larry Adams, underwent several surgeries on Friday at University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore, the department said. Adams is a 10-year veteran of the agency assigned to the Patrol Services Bureau in Eastern District.

Police spokesman Lt. T.J. Smith said late Friday night that officers made an arrest earlier in the day in the case. The suspect -- Colvin Lamar White, 30 of the 1600 block of Clay Hill Road in Annapolis -- was located about 9 a.m. Friday in the 1800 block of Meade Village Circle in Severn, police say.
White is being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center without bond on charges of attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, use of a firearm in felony/violent crime, handgun on a person, regulated firearm/illegal possession, conspiracy to commit robbery, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
Police Chief Timothy Altomare thanked “everyone for their continued prayers and support.”
The shooting occurred about 2 a.m. Friday in the area of 720 College Parkway East. Officers went to the address to check on Adams when he failed to respond to his radio.
Police say Adams went to the 7-Eleven store for a routine business check, and was told that a person outside the store was acting in a suspicious manner. When the officer went to investigate, there was an altercation with White.
Witnesses said they heard at least one gunshot when White apparently shot Adams and fled the scene. Smith says the suspect did not use the officer’s weapon to shoot him.
Adams was shot in the upper body in an area that is not covered by his police vest, WTOP reports.
Smith says this is the first Anne Arundel County Police officer to be shot in the line of duty since July of 2008, when an officer was shot in Brooklyn Park. There has never been a fatal shooting in the department’s history.
