Authorities say Larence Godfrey reportedly used blankets to cover razor wire on a prison fence and escape from a Maryland prison early Monday morning. He was serving time for attempted murder.

A Maryland prison inmate has escaped from a minimum security prison in Anne Arundel County by scaling a fence, authorities said Monday.

The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services says Larence Godfrey covered the razor wire on the top of the fence with blankets just before 5 a.m. Monday to escape from Dorsey Run Correctional Facility in Jessup.

The blankets were spotted around 6:15 a.m. and officials say Godfrey was identified as missing about an hour and half later, reports WJLA TV. Godfrey was last seen on Interstate 295 north near Route 100 between 7:20 a.m. and 7:40 a.m.
