An Annapolis cab driver was robbed at gunpoint and a Severn teen is accused of firing a gunshot during the encounter, police say.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — An Annapolis cab driver was robbed at gunpoint and a Severn teen is accused of firing a gunshot during the encounter, police say. A cab driver had two passengers in his taxi Monday afternoon when one of the men took out a handgun and demanded money from the cabbie. He drove into the 700 block of Newtowne Drive and locked the suspects in the cab.

Police say the suspects escaped the cab as it was moving and then fired a round into the vehicle, striking the cab, but not the driver. The cabbie drove away and called Annapolis Police. The suspects were not located.

Detectives identified Leslie Broadway, 19, of Severn as one of the robbers; he was arrested on Wednesday. Broadway is charged with attempted murder, armed robbery and ten other charges related to the holdup. He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.
