National Night Out Events Planned Across Anne Arundel County

Communities across the county are hosting National Night Out events Aug. 6 with free food, ice cream, activities and demonstrations.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD —National Night Out is America’s chance to take a stand against crime where emergency responders, neighbors, community leaders and others come together in a show of solidarity in their fight. There are several special events planned across Anne Arundel County for Aug. 6.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas celebrates on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and more.

The Eastern District National Night Out will be Tuesday, Aug. 6, rain or shine from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company located at 161 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. The event will include free food, displays from area organizations, demonstrations with K-9 dogs and fire department equipment, kids games and more.

The Annapolis Police Department will be attending several community National Night Out events Aug. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Obery Court, Chambers Park, Annapolis Gardens and Bay Ridge Gardens. There also will be a National Night Out event held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Piney Orchard Community Center in Odenton.

On Aug. 6, National Night Out will be held at the Crofton Library, 1681 Riedel Rd., from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the Lula G. Scott Community Center, 6243 Shady Side Rd. in Shady Side. There will be food, beverages, ice cream, giveaways, children's games, contests, a K-9 demonstration and a bomb squad robot demonstration. There also will be free entertainment on two stages along with police and fire vehicles on display.
