Seniors hula to island music

The day started with rain, thunder and lightning, but by afternoon the sun was shining and the weather was ideal for the Annapolis Senior Activity Center’s island party.

About 80 seniors attended the party. Some bought tickets for a pulled pork lunch catered by Red Hot & Blue. Others were content just to listen to the steel drum and Caribbean music of Orlando Phillips. Still others volunteered to help serve the lunch.

After lunch a few grass skirts appeared at this laid back event and the dance moves were reminiscent of the hula, belly dancing, and a conga line. Some dancers even went on the stage to show off their moves. Applause rang out as the island beat intensified, and the dancers kept pace with it.

At the end of the day, a few seniors said they got a good workout. Others said they were just worn out. All agreed it was a great party.
