Speed May Be Factor in Fatal Dairy Truck Crash: Police
A Salisbury truck driver died Sunday when his tractor-trailer overturned onto a guardrail near Cape St. Claire.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A dairy truck driver died over the weekend when his tractor-trailer rig overturned onto a guardrail near Annapolis, authorities say.
Driver George Marvel Fooks, 73, of Salisbury died just after 2 a.m. Sunday at the scene of the crash on Eastbound Route 50 and Bay Dale Drive near Cape St. Claire. While the investigation continues, Maryland State Police say speed may have caused the fatal one-vehicle accident.

Investigators say that Fooks’ tractor-trailer rig carrying Cloverland Milk products was eastbound when he lost control of the truck and it overturned on top of the guardrail. The truck skidded about 300 feet.
Preliminarily, police believe speed was a factor in the crash.

Fooks was pronounced dead on the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department paramedics.
A small amount of diesel fuel spilled from the crashed truck and was contained by firefighters and Maryland Department of the Environment crews.
