Stuff-The-Cruiser School Supplies Drive At Annapolis Mall Helps AACPS Students
Annapolis mall shoppers are stuffing a police car with school supplies this week. The drive will help Anne Arundel County students.
ANNAPOLIS, MD — Shoppers can stuff a police cruiser with school supplies this week at the Westfield Annapolis mall.
The event started Monday, and it runs through Thursday. The police car is in the Crate & Barrel Court.
The drive is a partnership with the Anne Arundel County Police Department. The supplies will help Anne Arundel County Public Schools students returning to the classroom this month.

"Anne Arundel County Police Southern District is excited to be collecting back to school essentials in partnership with our community to give back to the youth in our amazing county," Cpl. Danielle Daywalt said in a press release. "We are honored to be partnering with Anne Arundel County Public Schools and Westfield Annapolis on this important cause, and look forward to dispersing the donations to the youth in our area."
The effort coincides with tax-free week, which lets Marylanders buy certain clothing and school supplies without sales tax. To learn more about what's tax-exempt through Saturday, click here.

"MD Tax Free Week is a great time for shoppers to come out, get ready for the start of the school year and score some great savings," Westfield Annapolis General Manager Steven Stavropoulos said. "From clothing to backpacks and other school supplies, families can stock up not only for themselves, but also for others in the community who are in need of our support. We hope we can fill many AACPD cruisers this year!"
AACPS requested these items for the drive:
- Backpack - 17 inch (non rolling)
- Water bottle
- Pencils, sharpened 12 pack
- Pencil sharpener
- Pencil grips
- Pencil eraser toppers
- Scissors (blunt tip)
- Glue stick (large)
- Lined wide-ruled filler paper, 150 sheets
- Sticky notes, 90 sheet pad
- Crayons, 8 count
- Pencil box
- Dry erase sleeve
- Dry erase markers, chisel tip, 4 color set
- Dry eraser
- Ruler, 12 inch standard
- Folders, plastic, 2 pocket, 5 colors
- Ziplock bags
- Markers, classic, 8 count
- Tissues
- Headphones, over ear
- Composition notebook, primary ruled
- Highlighters
- Pencil pouch, fabric, zipper
- 2 red pens
"As we look forward to the 2022-2023 school year, the Education Foundation of Anne Arundel County Public Schools appreciates the support of Westfield Annapolis and the community – especially the Anne Arundel County Police Department," said Carol Ann McCurdy, the executive director for the Education Foundation of AACPS.
