Suspected Annapolis Child Rapist In Jail: Police

Daniel Rivera was arrested Thursday in Baltimore. He reportedly assaulted two girls, ages 10 and 12, at an Annapolis business.

An Annapolis man sought on charges that he raped a 12-year-old girl and sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl has been captured, officials say.

Annapolis Police detectives on Thursday night arrested Daniel Tobar Rivera, 56, of the 1300 block of Forest Drive in Annapolis. Rivera is charged with 26 criminal counts relating to the alleged assaults on the girls.

Detectives located Rivera in Baltimore where he was arrested and taken back to Annapolis. Rivera is being held without bond at the Jennifer Road Detention Center.

After an arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for Rivera, authorities feared he might have been in Virginia with plans to flee to Mexico. Police had asked the public to help find Rivera.

Rivera is accused of the sex offenses that occurred between Aug. 15 and Oct. 17 at a business in the 1300 block of Forest Drive.

Police investigating a runaway case learned she visited a business in the 1300 block of Forest Drive on Saturday afternoon, before she ran away. Video surveillance reportedly showed Rivera as he sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl. Police say Rivera also raped a 12-year-old girl on two occasions.

He is charged with two counts of second-degree rape, four counts of second-degree sex offense, five counts of third-degree sex offense, five counts of fourth-degree sex offense, three counts of perverted practice, two counts of sexual solicitation of a minor, and five counts of second-degree assault.
