Teacher Appreciation Week 2016 Freebies In Maryland

Many Maryland retailers are offering deals on food, clothing, books and more through May 7. Online fundraisers are also a way to say thanks.

Retailers across Maryland are offering freebie and deals through Saturday to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week May 2-7.

And the online fundraising site GoFundMe will donate $100 to every campaign launched to help a teacher buy classroom supplies or to support a classroom.

But, teachers are frustrated and some say that what they really need isn’t free food. They want adequate funding for schools, decent pay, valid assessment, job protections and a true voice in policy making, says The Washington Post.
