Thanksgiving And Black Friday 2019 Mall Hours, Sales In Maryland

Here's a look at when retail stores open across Maryland and a peek at some of the Black Friday ads and special discounts.

MARYLAND — If you're an avid Black Friday shopper committed to battling the crowds for deals, the biggest shopping day of the year has arrived. Many major retailers in Maryland, such as Walmart, Target, Macy's and Lowe's have already released ads for their special Black Friday 2019 deals.

As you plan your shopping excursion, you'll want to know when malls in Maryland are open; some are open on Thanksgiving, others open early on Friday.

Holiday retail sales could top $1 trillion for the first time this year, according to eMarketer. That would represent a 3.8 percent increase over last year's holiday shopping season from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31.

"Holiday spending growth will be driven by a consumer economy that remains robust, due to low unemployment, rising wages, a strong stock market and healthy consumer confidence," eMarketer principal analyst Andrew Lipsman told Business Insider. "At the same time, rising tariffs, trade war tensions, stock market volatility and dampening consumer sentiment all weigh on the season's growth potential. A shortened calendar between Thanksgiving and Christmas also presents a challenge."

The computer software company Adobe projected that U.S. online sales during the holiday season will total $143.7 billion dollars. Out of that amount, 20 percent will be spent by consumers between Thanksgiving Day and Cyber Monday.
