Thoughts turn from one chilly event to another
Admiral Heights Improvement Association holds its block party while looking ahead to Santa Run.
“The third time is the charm,” as the old saying goes. For two weeks the Admiral Heights Improvement Association’s block party was postponed because of rain. On Nov. 3, AdmiralHeights residents finally partied.
The thermometer read 48 degrees, but according to the weatherman, the wind chill made it feel like 38 degrees. Nevertheless, more than 25 residents braved the cold to chow down on hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers and an assortment of salads and desserts.
While the adults were introducing themselves and getting acquainted, the children had fun playing and snacking. Music playing in the background added a certain ambiance to the party.

But the major question remained, “If it’s this cold now, what’s it going to be like for the Santa Run?”
During the Santa Run, Santa Claus arrives in Admiral Heights via a fire truck which is accompanied by an entourage that seems to get bigger every year. While Santa visits with the community’s children, his helpers pick up new toys that are donated by Admiral Heights residents for needy children. This year the Santa Run is scheduled for 5 p.m. Dec. 15 in Halsey Park. See you there.
