A time of recognition

Annapolis Senior Activity Center's Father's Day Breakfast welcomes dads, moms & Anne Arundel County Facilities Maintenance Division members.

About 55 people were served at what is referred to as the Annapolis Senior Activity Center’s Father’s Day Breakfast, but is actually much more.

“Welcome to the 10th annual Father’s Day and Moms Too Breakfast,” Mary Crowner-Taylor, an associate at the center, said in opening remarks. She also welcomed members of Anne Arundel County Facilities Maintenance Division, “who take care of us so well throughout the year.”

On the tables in patriotic colored little buckets stood tiny flags, reminders that the breakfast was being held on Flag Day and that many seniors had sacrificed to make days like this possible. Flag pennants also hung along the walls.

The smell of bacon cooking permeated the air and glasses of orange juice and fruit cups added additional color to the tables. Plates were piled high with scrambled eggs and potatoes were being scooped out of serving bowls. Food, in general, and Danishes and turkey sausage, in particular, disappeared so fast that it was almost like it was never there.

Thanks go to Mary Crowner-Taylor and Isaac Jones, center director. They not only organized the event, but they also did the cooking and serving. Thanks also go to center member and volunteer Arlene Wells who made the beautifully colored and tasty fruit cups and helped with the serving.
