Tow Truck Driver Killed By Suspected Drunk Driver: Police
A tow truck driver for a Pasadena firm was hit and killed by a suspected drunk driver in Linthicum, police say.

LINTHICUM, MD — A tow truck driver was hit and killed Wednesday by a suspected drunk driver in Linthicum, Anne Arundel County Police say. The fatal crash happened about 3:30 p.m. on northbound Belle Grove Rd (MD-170) near Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard (MD-648).
A truck for Generations Auto “Safetow” in Pasadena was stopped on the roadway in front of 6051 Belle Grove Road picking up a disabled vehicle. Driver Thomas Anthony Flayhart, 48, of Baltimore, was standing at the rear of the tow truck securing straps when he and his tow truck were struck from behind by a northbound 2005 Dodge Magnum. Flayhart was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.
The driver of the Dodge — Brian Wayne Weatherley, 31, of Baltimore — was taken to Harbor Hospital for treatment.

Police say the crash was caused by Weatherly's failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision. Alcohol and/or drugs are believed to be a contributing factor. Any charges would be filed after a review by the state’s attorney.
