Veteran To Open First Batteries Plus Bulbs In Annapolis

Annapolis' first Batteries Plus Bulbs will be opening the week of Veterans Day by an Air Force veteran excited for the opportunity.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Air Force veteran Sherman Malone will be opening Annapolis' first Batteries Plus Bulbs the week of Veterans Day Nov. 11 in the shopping center off Defense Highway. Malone spent more than three decades working in the IT field and 16 years in the private sector as an IT program and project manager. More than 20 years were dedicated to the Air Force.

But after retiring, the man with an aptitude for technology decided to investigate buying a franchise that fit his interests and skill set. After needing a new battery for his security system that he couldn't find at any of the big box stores, he discovered Batteries Plus Bulbs and it clicked for him.

"I investigated the company first and learned it's one of the top 10 best franchises to buy in America by Forbes. I also was looking to start something for less than $10,000, so that drew my attention to Batteries Plus Bulbs from a corporate perspective," Malone told Patch. "But everybody needs batteries. We also can replace key fobs, repair cell phones and offer a variety of batteries for boats, vehicles, motorcycles and more. It's also a way for me to give back to the community by creating employment opportunities."
